Forgot to say in my previous post that I am reading Agatha Christie's Murder on the Orient Express again. A little while ago I saw the tv programme of it and they changed the ending and I didn't like the ending, so I thought I would read the book and compare the endings.
I haven't read the book for ages so it is good to go back and re-read it.

Busy buying books & Edward Lear found him again.
I have not been around for a while, but have bought more cookery books, crochet books and knitting books.
Also bought Edward Marston's latest railway detective book and his home front book. Also treated myself after looking for quite some time The Lady Vanishes, by Ethel Lina White. Which I am so looking forward to read. I think you can guess I like reading books about murder and mysteries on trains.
Yesterday at work I picked up a copy of Edward Lear's book of nonsense verse . I really love his work, I am not a one for poetry, but I really love his work, The Owl and The Pussycat, The Jumblies, I can go on and on. I just find his work very appealing, even when I was a child. So when I am at work having a break I will be reading Edward Lear , just a little bit at a time so I can savour him slowly. I think it's the child still in me who loves his works so much.

Ode to the moon.
I woke very early this morning, and saw the moon and thought I wish I could write a poem about the moon. But I must admit I really don't get on with poetry I have tried, nursery rhymes I can do with the grandchildren , but poetry I cannot. Maybe because at school it always the boring bits of poetry that the teachers taught put me off. Mind you I must admit I do like Edward Lear I somehow connect to him, strange.

Murder mystery.
I found a book for the coming winter to read,Mystery In White, byJ.Jefferson Farjeon.
I have not come across this author before, so it will be interesting to read this book.
He is not a well known author for today's readers, but was a major figure during the Golden Age of murder between the two world wars.
He had the skill of making his books rather creepy, which I think is ideal for winter reading.
This story is based on a train being stuck in the countryside in winter, that's why I have chose it for a book to read in winter and it's a murder mystery. I enjoy reading about murder mysteries on trains.
So by the looks of things this is going to be a really good read.
So when I finish it I will let you know if I enjoyed it , I got a funny feeling I will.

Back to reading.
I have found my Miss Read books, I know a lot of people turn their noses up at her books, but I enjoy them, they are my comfort reads. I like thrillers, detectives books ,history, but I just could not get into them just lately , so I have turned to my comfort reads. At least I am back reading for me that's is the main thing.
I always try a new author and never turn my nose up even at fifty shades of grey, which was ok, but hey we are all different and it would be boring if we all liked the same books.

Reader's block.
Haven't been here for a very long time! I sort of lost interest in reading, if you count reading cookery books, craft and gardening books as reading in a way, then I am alright .
I have got my comfort books which I turn to every so often, but I need to find new authors to whet my appetite.
At the moment I am reading the Dales of Parkhill. I don't know if anyone remembers Mrs Dale's Diary, that used to be on the radio many years ago? I vaguely do, well this book is about Mrs Dale's Diary. It's about all the characters who starred in the programme. I found it in a second hand bookshop and thought it might be interesting and it is. When I finish it I will write about it. I doubt if anyone would be interested in it.
But I must really get back to reading . I have got a reading block. If anyone can suggest any good authors or books, I would be most grateful

i went into a charity shop as i had a bit of time to spare before an appointment and i found both volumes of rumer godden autobiography .i haven't read her books for years,so i was so pleased to buy these two books. as i have said before, my reading has gone down hill lately, i really do not why. but i taken i not going to worry to much and get on with other things then it might come back, my love for reading.to be honest i feel a little bit lost, my youngest is in year 11, then hoping to go to college. we had bad news again yesterday an other member of my partner family died.
that saying that one door closes an other opens rings true,my youngest will be off doing his thing college etc. i really have to stop being so negative, but i must be honest i am scared, so i will have to stop felling sorry for myself and get on with.
when i look back on this post in the future i will cringe to myself. but i think writing it down helps.
